A Gal's Survival Guide

Hello loves! How are you all?! Fine as wine, I hope! ;)

OK, so, I've been thinking about writing a post like this for a while now and I'm finally getting around to it. Anywho, I've been working on a list of must-have's for we particularly girly girls for quite some time, and I thought it'd be nice to share it with you lovely gals!

  1. Every girl needs at least one favorite nail polish that they know the brand & color name by heart.
  2. Ladies, we all need at least one satiny, silky nightgown that makes us feel beautiful, comfortable, and oh-so-feminine! My personal reccomendation is, of course, for a lovely vintage find such as a Miss Elaine or Olga. They certainly do make a girl feel lovely!
  3. Red. Lipstick. I think every girly girl needs a go-to shade of red lipstick (or gloss, your preference) for those days when you want to feel sexy, timelessly classy, & exude a take-charge kind of attitude.
  4. Pearls. Earrings, a necklace, a bracelet...whatever floats your boat, girl. Pearls are another classic go-to that go with virtually ANYthing and have such a pretty, girly, dainty touch.
  5. Two words: Kitten. Heels. If you don't own a pair, honey, you need to grab that purse & keys and hop on over to the nearest shoe store! As a gal who can't really manuever in *high* heels, a kitten heel is my best friend. ;) They're not too high, or too short, easy to walk in, comfortable enough to wear all day (even at work), AND they're just downright sexy.
  6. Spanx. Again, they are essential! I don't care if you're a size six, girl, Spanx can (& will!) change your life! Not just because they ensure a perfectly smooth foundation, but they are comfortable, too!
  7. A signature scent. While not necessary, a lovely fragrance can enhance your mood & attitude, especially if it's one that reminds you of your favorite vacation or your first date with that special someone. ;)
  8. Bubble bath. Or bath salts. Or bath soak. Whatever you prefer. Anything to enhance a nice, relaxing hot bath at the end of a tiring, stressful day.
  9. A good moisturizer. Moisturizing is one of many best friends a girl can have. When you moisturize your skin, you help combat icky dryness AND leave your skin touchably smooth.
  10. Have an activity or hobby that relaxes you. We all know how busy & stressful life can be at times, gals, so it's important to slow down and take a break with a fun craft project, a magazine, or simply lounging in your favorite chair for a bit.

And there y'all have it: the Southerner's top-ten essentials for a girly-girl such as herself. ;) Hope you all enjoyed it...and now go settle down with something good to read & a glass (or cup!) of tea for some "you" time, girls!

Hey, y'all!

How is everyone? :)

So sorry for the lack of posting lately, but, springtime around this household is ALWAYS a busy time! Busy, but, exciting! Seems like 80% of our friends & family are all born in the spring months, we have a lot of family functions that go on, and, well, the Southerner likes to dig in the yard with her flowers and plants instead of being inside this time of year...lol ;)

I'm thrilled to say that Mr. Max is tons better than he was when I last posted; he's gotten his stitches taken out & his fur is coming back, but for now, he's still in the doggie cone. BOO. Mr. Southerner has also settled in at work quite nicely. We've had to find a balance with things, but, we finally have a routine that seems to work out for us. I've had lots of showers, birthdays,  home re-decorating and painting & spring cleaning going on to keep me busy as a bee...but, I've loved it all! I'm ready to settle down, though, and get to some serious crafting soon! I have the itch!

Speaking of home re-decorating & such, I've been giving the Southerner house a nice, nifty vintage make over! I LOVE IT! I have acquired so many things & am still on the prowl for more, and if you know the Southerner, shopping and the art of finding a great steal of a deal is right up this gal's alley, honey! ;) I've spent countless amounts of time scouring eBay, Amazon, Etsy, thrift shops, & antique dealers in the past couple of months and it's really starting to pay off, y'all! So far I've accumulated: two vintage light globes for our master bath, a set of vintage canisters for the kitchen, a lovely vintage Siamese cat figure for our living room (his name is Fred!), and a vintage coffee container (it's ceramic & looks like a little stove...so darling!). Also, I've stumbled across a couple of finds from my dear Mama Bear: a vintage 1957 ceiling fixture light for our kitchen and a vintage 1960's Cosco cart!

I, of course, was most thrilled about the things from my mom because, well, they are passed down from she & my grandparents. It was quite ironic the way the kitchen light fixture was stumbled upon; we thought it had long since been discarded after my parents remodeled my grandparents' house several years back. So, you can imagine how thrilled the Southerner was when she found it tucked away in a corner in storage! The Cosco cart was a pleasant surprise, also, because it belonged to my mother, who packed it away in storage long ago, not knowing that one day the Southerner would have a passion for all of her lovely vintage treasures! I'm glad we can give it a new lease on life as a microwave/kitchen cart once it's had a good couple of coats of spray paint. ;) I'll do a blog soon with pics of all of the "new" vintage goodness in the Southerner house!

Alright, lovebugs, I want to leave y'all with a recommendation for a fellow vintage lovin' gal, The Vintage Housewife ! Y'all, you're going to love her! She's such a sweet gal who has an amazing spirit and I find her love for vintage to be super-contagious and inspiring...please go visit her blog, I promise that you won't be sorry! ;)

It's almost as expensive as college tuition!

Howdy lovebugs! Hope you're all well! It's certainly been super-duper crazy 'round these parts!  Our weekend was spent in & out of the animal hospital AND our family vet's office. Our long-haired Dachshund, Max, was bitten by our cute-but-so-very-evil cat & was bleeding...a lot. So. Once we got that situation under control, we found he had a hernia that had sprang up outta nowhere, which meant surgery to repair it yesterday morning. Agggh! Did y'all know that emergency vet care is more expensive than a down payment on a car or a semester's worth of college tuition?! O_o I almost had a fainting spell when they told me how much our visits totaled! Mr. Southerner was at hand, thankfully, with smelling salts (or the equivalent, anyway...a man wearing French cologne is comparable, right?).

But, little Max is finally at home safe & sound where he belongs, although he's terribly irritated that he's bald on the right side of his body AND has to be confined to his crate about 70% of the time until his stitches are out.

This is our sweet pea, Max. He wasn't too thrilled in this pic, as he tends to hold the belief that water is evil. ;)

Off to tend to my recovering patient! Have a lovely week, dolls! ;)

Inspire to BE Inspired!

So. I am super-duper sorry for the slack in posting, y'all! :( It's been a craaaazy train around the Southerner home front lately. Big changes came along with Mr. Southerner's new job, some expected, some not so much. Like the whole not seeing him as much, expected. Him working 19 days straight, NOT expected. o_O  To say it's been a MASSIVE adjustment for our little family is a complete understatement!

Anyway, with the added stress of running things around the homestead mostly by my lonesome, I have kinda had to let my crafting (and photography) take a back seat...which stinks, yes. :( But, fret not, my buttercups, because I have FINALLY seen the light at the end of the tunnel this week and should be back to the ol' grind this coming week, if all goes according to schedule. So, YAY!!!

On a serious, more profound note, I'm not the type of girl to have really powerful realizations just hit me over the head out of nowhere; I'm the type that's stubborn and has to be shown such things...lol Alas, you can imagine my surprise when this epiphany just dawned on me in the middle of an aisle of ethnic foods in a busy supermarket. Anyway, here goes...

As most of you know (and if you don't, you will, trust me ;) ), the Southerner is a proud, comfortable plus-size gal. I pride myself on not only embracing who I am & my size, but, the fact that I still remain true to myself and wear things I like, things that make me feel super-feminine, things that make me feel like a runway model, and things that make me feel HAPPY. I don't let my size define me. It hurts me to see other plus-size women put themselves down, or allow others to do so. It just irks me like you would not even believe! So, when I saw this lovely girl, about my age, on one of the motorized carts in the market, my heart went out to her. There was just something about this girl, you know? She just seemed kind of shy, like she was afraid to be herself and was trying to just get her things and hurry out of the store. I was honestly surprised when I ran into her on about the third time, that she spoke to me as I rifled through the tortillas.

With a genuine, friendly smile, she complimented my nail polish and we struck up a nice little chat right there about nail polish brands and such. Such a nice girl! I really enjoyed talking to her and it seemed like it did us both good. And as I left the market, I realized, "I like this feeling." The feeling of , "Hey, I think I made her day a little brighter just by sharing a common bond with her", and I know she made MY day brighter! But, the thing that stuck with me the most is, I want to help empower my fellow plus-size ladies!

I don't want myself or any other woman of size to feel alienated, shunned, or awkward just because of the size of our bodies! And, by the same token, I don't think ANY woman should feel that way, regardless of her size, the color of her skin, or any other factor of her life. So, it's now also a part of the mission of the Southerner to share these sentiments via this blog. I just want women to know that we all ultimately have common bonds with one another, we're not as different as we may look or seem. Remember that.

I challenge y'all to inspire at least one lovely lady this week. I promise, it will make you feel just as good as buying a new pair of shoes, girls! ;)

Alright. Time for this sleepyhead to sign off & enjoy the company of Mr. Southerner. Y'all stay tuned for new merchandise...hopefully in the coming week!

Raise your hand if you're ready for Spring!

If you guys are like me, you're well beyond ready to see the arrival of glorious Springtime! ;) To me, spring has always marked the beginning of gardening, getting the house spic & span, and embarking upon new fitness regimens. Usually, however, the fitness regimens don't last; but, this year I am bound and determined that they WILL last. I decided several months back that 2012 would be a year of changes, positive changes, in the Southerner household, so I'm committed to making things stick!

I must say, though, that aside from being excited about Spring coming, I'm thrilled to see that the Freebie Giveaway is going quite well! If you haven't already, be sure you go to the Fb page & 'LIKE' the most recent status update to enter the contest. Also, be on the lookout for some new merchandise going up on the site a little later in the week, too. There are lots of new things in the making in the Southerner's labyrinth, I tell you! ;)

'Til tomorrow...

All the goings on...

Whoa. Sorry for the lack of posting this week, folks. It's been, yet another, crazy week at the Southerner household, though. Mr. Southerner's new job is wonderful & a HUGE blessing, but it's a big adjustment! Whew!

But, in other news, gues what I've been daydreaming about all week long? SPRINGTIME! And of course, Easter! ;) Two of my personal favorites! So, of course that's sprung a Easter craft brain storming session. I've come up with several ideas for some accesories, tote bags, and home decor. I'm excited, I can't wait to get some samples made to share with y'all! :)

Anyway, I've also decided that I am going to open up the blog to sharing other things besides just my crafts. I'm going to add health & beauty tips and tricks, household tips, decorating tips and ideas, recipes, fashion, and basically anything that I think is of interest and worth passing along. I want the blog to be fun, entertaining, and informational, so I think branching out will help it along, don't you? ;)

Alright, gang, I am off to delve into some laundry and bathing the multitude of dogs...enjoy your weekend, lovebugs!

New Goodies!

Hello lovebugs! Did everyone have a happy V-Day yesterday? :) Hope so! Mine was lovely...spent with family, which was nice. Much better than last year when Mr. Southerner had brought home the tummy virus & we spent the holiday sick as dogs...lol

Anyway, there's a bunch of new merchandise to check out on the Facebook page! Yay! I hope you're all as excited as I am! And don't worry, there's lots more to come, too. I just have to get everything pressed and photographed! ;)

'Til tomorrow! XoXo!

Long time, no blog :(

Happy Monday & Valentine's Day Eve, loves! Sorry it's been so long since a new post!

It's been a hectic week last week in the Southerners' household. Mr. Southerner (aka: Adam), just started his new job this morning, so Mrs. Southerner (aka: ME! ;P ) has been a busy little bee wrangling up things such as new work clothes for him. AGH! It's enough to make lesser women throw up their hands & run away screaming in frustration! At least that's what I believe...lol (I am being a bit dramatic on that belief, though, I imagine...) It's crazy, though, he's working in an auto plant, so, they have some fairly strict clothing guidelines. I guess that's good, maybe, because they just can't be selling scratched up vehicles. ;)

So, as you can imagine, I am just ITCHING to get back to crafting this week! I left no less than four projects just kind of hanging in the balance when we found out he was making the swap this week. Once those are finished, I cannot WAIT to get to work on my spring and summer projects! Those are my favorites! :)

Be on the lookout not only for new products, but, a Monthly Freebie drawing to be posting this week!

Finally!

lol, And no, I am not about to shout "The Rock has returned to ________". ;)  Anyway, enough of my silly WWE fangirl nonsense! Time to get serious!

I officially have items up & listed for SALE on The Vintage Southerner Facebook page! YAY!!!! :) For now, that is the only site where items are available for purchase. Eventually, I will be opening a page on either Big Cartel or Etsy, but that's a wee bit on down the road.

But, for now, hop on over to the TVS Facebook and enjoy the goods! More to follow VERY soon, gals! Enjoy!

Happy Monday, loves! XoXo

Wednesday, February 1, 2012

Hey y'all! Hope everyone is having a good humpday! I don't know about y'all, but, I've always been fond of Wednesdays; the week's almost over & the weekend is in sight, there's good tv shows on, & it's our usual "date night". :) Also, this particular Wednesday has brought us the month of February...yay!

Before I head back to working on pin cushions and aprons, I wanted to share a page with you guys. I'd like to introduce you to my fellow crafter & lovely sister-in-law, Holly, who creates blankets and bows. She makes some beautiful goodies, y'all, so please be sure to check her out on Facebook! :)

Hey y'all! Is everyone having a good afternoon? :) Certainly hope so!

Anyway, I have a question for y'all: would you be interested in participating in a monthly giveaway? What I would do is choose a random item once a month and have you guys 'like' it on the Facebook page, and then the winner of the item will be randomly selected. How's that sound? :)

Anyway, what I am REALLY excited to share with y'all is that you can expect to see some craft items up for sale on the FB page by (or before maybe!) the end of the week! So, please be sure that you've 'liked' TVS on Facebook!

Just who is the Southerner?

Okay, so. Since you guys are awesome enough to scope out my blog (and patiently await it out-growing it's awkward stage...lol), I thought I may as well tell you guys a little more about myself. Because, if you're like me, sometimes you wonder what people are interested in, what inspires them, & maybe even what their favorite color is. Anywho, I decided to put together a short list of random, fun, kinda useless facts about myself; only, I got a little carried away & wound up with 98 facts! ;)

So, without further adieu, here goes:

1. I love spicy foods.

2. I like big band music very much.

3.The reason why I am so drawn to vintage, retro, kitschy stuff is because it just reminds you of a different time. It has a way of not only transporting you to this nostalgic frame of mind, it makes you SMILE! :)

4. I LOVE crafting.

5. I love beauty products in general, but I seem to be totally obsessed with bath products in particular.

6. If a Peach Sunkist can't fix it, we're in major trouble.

7. I like quotes. Mark Twain's probably my favorite go-to for a good quote, but, Audrey Hepburn and C.S. Lewis are among my other faves.

8. Adam & I have conversations with the dogs & cats, just as we would anyone else.

9. I am thankful each & every day that God is so faithful!

10. I like tattoos...a lot. But, I don't have as many as I'd like to. I always knew I'd wind up with a tattooed guy, and as God just so happened to plan, Adam has two arms full of them. ;)

11. Adam's cooking always makes me happy. Even if it's just a grilled cheese sandwich, food just tastes better if my husband's hands have touched it.

12. Green is my all-time favorite color. :)

13. Crafting, creating, photography, & interior design are my passions.

14. I can't stand that Adam wastes water in the shower. He lets it run for about 2 days before getting in. Drives me NUTS!

15. I do my best cleaning when I'm either worried, upset, or angry. They're all strong motivators for me...lol

16. Speaking of cleaning, I hate doing dishes. I really wish it were acceptable to live only off of paper dishes & plastic ware. Alas, not very practical or green, huh?

17. I absolutely LOVE musicals! Phantom of the Opera, Fosse, & Chicago are my faves.

18. I'm not very good at it, but I like to paint.

19. I want to learn how to make soap. Not for practicality so much as just a fun hobby & a way of giving people a cool, funky gift.

20. I don't know why, but I want to dress our Chihuahuas up like June Cleaver with aprons & tiny strings of pearls. It's not like they'd actually have ANY part of any fashion attire...lol

21. I love high-heeled shoes so, so much. They're so feminine & pretty. Only they don't love ME. I cannot walk in anything above about a 2, 2 1/2 inch heel without almost doing a face plant every third step.

22. I feel so blessed that I have the kind of husband who writes you poetry, just because.

23. I am super-weird about bodywash. My two favorites are Clean & Clear bursts (all of them!), and Softsoap's Honeysuckle & Orange Peel. They're literally the only ones I will use now.

24. I loooove coupons! Coupons, sales, discounts...basically any kind of a GOOD deal!

25. Our dog ate a Bible to shreds once. We think it was because he liked the taste of the Italian leather. I told him just because he'd heard us say that you should take in The Word, that didn't mean you were supposed to EAT it...

26. Our home is a complete reflection of our personalities; eclectic, fun, lived-in & versatile. Neither of us are too incredibly hung up on matchy-matchy stuff, which I think to be a good thing.

27. I'd love to work at a year-round Halloween store...if such a thing existed in Alabama.

28. "Face Off" is my favorite T.V. show.

29. My cell phone & I have a love-hate relationship; mostly, I love it, and it hates me.

30. Or it could just be our carrier that hates me...who knows.

31. For some reason, every time we try to get Zaxby's, there is some issue & they don't have the one thing we eat from there: wings. WHY?!

32. "The Long, Long Trailer" staring Lucy & Desi is my ALL-TIME favorite movie!

33. I've recently became totally engrossed with Civil War history, as has Adam. We've begun a Civil war collection in his man cave. ;)

34. I sniff anything before I put it on or near my face. Idk why. Just always have.

35. My Juicy Couture Daydreamer bag is named Jackson.

36. Yes; I name all of my purses. Well, OK, you got me...MOST of them.

37. And, no, I have no idea WHY I named it Jackson, Adam. (He asked.)

38. Designer bags are my ultimate form of indulgence. Heck, most ANY cute bag I get my hands on are, for that matter! :)

39. I have grown to despise nail salons so much that I refuse to patronize them & do my own mani/pedi's now. I've had about six too many bad salon experiences and besides, home pampering is MUCHO cheaper, ladies!

40. I <3 my Nintendo DSi.

41. My worst pet peeve is un-matched laundry detergent/fabric softener. It HAS to coordinate or smell similar enough to coordinate. It drives people crazy that it takes me 30 minutes to buy two items, but I can't help it.

42. I love Robert Irvine's accent! The way he pronounces 'sausage' and 'lasagna' make me giggle! :D

43. I want a massive (we're talking like 2 gallon size) jar of all sorts of buttons. I love buttons.

44. Zoder's Inn in Gatlinburg IS my happy place. <3

45. Actually, Gatlinburg in general is my happy place. I feel so connected & at peace there. I love it!

46. I want a hot tub. But, we kinda need a back deck first...

47. I wish I could go on a mission trip, but I think I'd be scared/nervous.

48. For some reason, I've always liked the idea of having an orchard. But, where we live, it's not very practical, so for now, a small-ish garden will have to do.

49. I miss the show "Grace Under Fire". Love Bret Butler. Met her once. She was so cool!

50. Even though I can't stand to watch some of it, I love blood, guts, & gore. Mostly, I just enjoy the effort and creativity that is put into the effects of creating it. It amazes me at how a little food coloring, dish detergent, & Karo syrup can look exactly like blood!

51. I like being all domestic & wifely. :)

52. To me, there is nothing better than hearing an older person talk about their childhood in the eras gone by. You learn so much from those stories!

53. I wanna get into pilates & yoga.

54. One day, I plan to visit both Ireland & Switzerland so I can learn about my heritage.

55. I like rain. As long as I don't have to go anywhere in it.

56. Crinkle-cut fries & Heinz ketchup are my favorite "comfort snack".

57. I hate the Georgia Dome. Trust me, I bear the city of Atlanta no malice, but I hate that venue. It's just so busy & BIG.

58. I love garden gnomes so, so much! :)

59. Speaking of, the Travelocity Gnome commercials make me smile.

60. Although I enjoy being domestic, I cannot bake to save my very life. Boo. :(

61. My dad is the real-life Hank Hill. Or, well, he's pretty close anyway; they both drive a red Ford truck, they both love their lawn mowers just as much (if not more) than their wives, they both have one child (whom at times they believe to not be quite right in the head), they put their dogs on a pedestal. The only difference is my dad doesn't drink and he doesn't have a crazy conspiracy theorist friend or one who has a particularly bad case of the mumbles.

61. I just got done re-doing our guest bath a few months ago. Much to my chagrin, I wasn't a fan. So, I had to re-vamp a few things. It's simply lovely now.

62. Chocolate milk is my favorite drink.

63. I didn't learn to tie my own shoes until I was in 2nd grade. (I was too stubborn to listen to direction. :P )

64. I caught my hair on fire by accident once when I was 6 years old. It was HORRIBLE.

65. I love jewelry, but, I cannot stand to wear it for very long because it starts to get on my nerves.

66. I collect all kinds of green antique glassware.

67. I <3 homade corn dogs. Especially Adam's. (He puts cayenne pepper in the batter. ;) )

68. I cannot stand to hear someone complain about being used or ran over by others. STAND UP FOR YOURSELF!!!! You're only a victim if you LET yourself be one! (Yes. I DO speak from past experiences.)

69. I LOVE Reverend Run's tweets! They're seriously one of the best parts of my days! If you have Twitter & don't follow him, you SHOULD! @revrunwisdom

70. I've noticed I have talked a lot about food in this list...I suppose that's the mark of a truly proud big girl...LOL ;)

71. I'd love to compose a book of Southern ghost stories. I aspire to do so one day.

72. Speaking of Southern ghosts, I absolutely MUST venture to both Charleston and Savannah...SOON!

73. When I type in all caps, it's not to be dramatic or rude, it's to convey strong emotional emphasis. :P So, if it seems like I am yelling at y'all a lot, I promise that I'm not.

74. I'm very glad that I have a spouse who shares as eclectic of a taste in music as I.

75. I despise confrontations.

76. I'm slightly OCD about even numbers. For example, if I make pancakes, there has to be an even number of them, no matter what.

77. I use the word "like" entirely too much in conversation, I am aware. I've really tried to remedy that, but, it just keeps creeping back in! :/

78. I feel like I can communicate my thoughts and emotions far better in writing than I possibly can verbally.

79. I cannot stand to be nauseous. It absolutely makes me crazy.

80. A live-in chiropractor would be the best thing that ever happened. Well, not really, but, it'd be nice.

81. "Psych" is my #2 favorite show. Dule' Hill cracks me UP!

82. I love NASCAR. It kinda bums me out to see what's happened to it in the past four to five years, though. For a sport so rich in tradition, they've changed about 55 bazillion too many of those traditions, in my opinion.

83. If I could have ANY kind of pet, I'd want a black bear cub. And I'd want it to stay a cub forever. :P

84. I wish it were admissible for a grown woman to play with a doll house, because, I'll be honest, I miss that!

85. Our boy cat, Tiny, is by far the most over-weight cat I've ever seen. He's just a gigantic baby, though...and a very sweet, gentle one at that.

86. I wonder, just what happened to Rick Astley?

87. I really like fall weather...just not the following inevitable WINTER weather/months.

88. I am always SO indecisive about my hair. It's getting to be a bit insane.

89. I probably like cartoons 12 times more than your average adult. And I am not ashamed. :P

90. My daddy gave me a billy club. Possibly not the BEST idea he's ever had, but, I am quite fond of the fact that I now own a billy club. ;)

91. For most of my adult life, I've dreaded the arrival of the Christmas season, however; after I got married, that changed drastically. LOVE it (for the most part) now.

92. Halloween is my favorite holiday. I just like spooky things & dressing up. :)

93. We are both so ready to have children! It's an exciting aspect of our lives right now.

94. We're planning to build an outdoor fire pit this spring...so excited about that!

95. I wish I had as much self-confidence as our smallest, 3-pound Chihuahua, Gracie, does. She would be ready to take on a Mortal Kombat ninja in 0.02 seconds...and probably win.

96. Spring is my favorite season. I love springtime flowers, planting a garden, & the sunny weather.

97. I can do awesome things with a hot glue gun! ;)

98. My favorite way to spend an evening at home is making dinner with Adam & playing board games together.

Thanks for reading, y'all! I hope you enjoyed getting to know just who this crazy, creative, randomly eclectic Southern gal is! Please feel free to comment & share some fun facts about yourselves, too! :) Have a great Saturday! XoXo!

New look!

at the beginning...

Welcome to the world of the Vintage Southerner! If you're here, chances are you already know me, which is awesome! :) If you don't know me, though, I'll just give you a brief little intro of myself and what I do...

My name is Dawn. I'm 28 years young and I live in a small, itty-bitty town in Alabama. I've been married to my husband, Adam, for almost 3 years now. We don't have kids...yet. We're hoping those come along shortly, though. :) Anyway, I've always been a creative kinda girl and enjoyed crafting, photography, and basically anything that allows me to express myself. I also have an insatiable affection for all things retro, vintage, antique, or just plain old...lol I love feeling like I've given a piece a new life, you know?

So, I recently decided that since I enjoy making things so much, hey, why not start a blog & maybe see if I can actually sell some of my goodies & share them with folks. It's a win/win, hopefully; I enjoy making my things, and others can purchase them and enjoy them in their homes as much as I enjoyed making them.

Anywho, welcome to my blog...stick around! Bear with me as I head into this venture because, I promise, it's going to be AWESOME! :)

<3, Dawn
